ORCi NATIONAL BANGER PRESS RELEASE

The ORCi Technical Sub Committees met last week to discuss any rules changes for 2011.

These will be published in due course, however, there is an additional rule that will be implemented this year and will apply from 1st July 2010.

This new rule was based on the findings of four cars that were presented for scrutineering at Crasharama and were ‘overbuilt’ to the current specifications.

The ORCi does not wish to see Bangers with chassis strengthening and additional steel strengthening which goes well beyond the scope of the rule book.

The new rule reads as follows :

If a car is presented for PRE-RACE scrutineering and found to be armoured or strengthened and cannot be corrected on the day, the driver will receive an immediate 12 month ORCi ban. Please note, this includes engine or gearbox suspensions mounts that are over the top and also includes distributor and cam belt guards that cannot be corrected on the day and be re-presented for scrutineering.

If the car is subject of POST-RACE scrutineering checks and fails in any of the above noted areas, the driver will receive an immediate 12 month ORCi ban, irrespective of whether the problem could have been corrected on the day.

Please note that there will be no exceptions. This trend of the overbuilding of cars has to be stamped out immediately.

INCAHOTS ADDED TO HEDNO MEETING ON 13 JUNE

Following the fairly dismal entry of Banger Teams for this Sunday at Hednesford, INCAHOTS (Incarods and Hot Fords racing together) have been added to the schedule for the meeting.

After a superb show on 16th May at the same venue, the INCAHOTS rightly deserve an extra meeting and will be a great addition to the show on Sunday. So drivers, if you are a football fan, don’t party too much during the England match on Saturday night and come and enjoy yourselves at Hednesford on Sunday.

BANGERS.... BANGERS....BANGERS....BANGERS

Lots of action coming up for the Bangers and National Bangers on the Incarace front over the next few weeks........................

2 Litre Midland Championship – Bham Wheels – 22nd May

This really is a show piece meeting with the BriSCA F1’s and for the first time ever at Wheels the Class 7 Grass Trackers.

We are looking for a really good grid of cars here to put on some good contact racing – The F1 crowd really like a good field of Bangers, so lets show them what Banger racing is about!

BIG VAN NATIONAL BANGERS – Monday 31st May – Hednesford Hills

This was an excellent event last year at the Bank Holiday Meeting, and it would be great if we could repeat it. It will be a £100 Destruction Derby too, so go find your Big Van and have some fun. Incidentally, we don’t want V6 vans – if in doubt, please check with the office.

BANGERS – Monday 31st May – Northampton

The Banger event at Northampton on Bank Holiday Monday will include a Figure of Eight Final, going into a DD. So, normal heats for the day and then Fig of 8 to finish the day off.

2010 NATIONAL TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - Sunday 13th June – Hednesford Hills

I am sure that you all know that we have reverted back to the old 1650cc limit, following last years trial of 2 Litre, which really didn’t work that well, because it wasn’t that different. You are allowed to use Mondeos in this meeting, but the engine number must be visible and if there is any doubt with it, then the car will be failed at scrutineering.

You are invited now to enter your team of 6 drivers – just ring the office and book in.

1650cc NATIONAL BANGERS – 19th June - Birmingham

You don’t have to be a scientist to know why this meeting was planned! Basically, if you have survived the Team Meeting or at least can repair the damage, then you have a second chance to race and then finish it off finally in the DD!

RWD BANGERS – 26th June - Birmingham

This normal, domestic Banger meeting has, with the influence of driver requests been changed now to a special one-off meeting for Bangers, where drivers must use Rear Wheel drive cars and can optionally weld the diffs! Cars must be built to Banger spec with a 2 Litre engine limit.

Solid engine mountings are going to be allowed, but no over the top ones, otherwise you risk being knocked back at Scrutineering.

There has been a lot of interest in this meeting already, so this could well turn out to be a bumper grid of cars. There will of course be a Destruction Derby to finish off the night, with a big trophy and some money to go with it.

So, that takes us up to the end of June, with more to come for the rest of the year, but in the meantime, plenty of meetings for you to choose from, with hopefully some drivers doing them all.

INCARACE vs SPEDEWORTH BANGER TEAM EVENT

Saturday 8th May – Birmingham Wheels (Start Time 6.45pm)

The Banger racing on the night will now feature the first leg of the return team event with Spedeworth. Whilst Incarace finally lost this tie last year, it was a fantastic meeting and our boys are really up for reversing the result this year and sending the Spedeworth boys home with their tails between their legs!

Joey Holmes is the Captain of the Incarace Team and he has put a great list of drivers together which should provide the Spedeworth team with a real headache. Mini Stox, MASCARS and the fabulous Rebel Racers provide all of the support that will mean it should be a cracking night of racing and certainly not one to miss!
There will be a return leg later in the year at Aldershot on Sunday August 22nd, 1pm, but the boys need your support next Saturday first – be there!!

26 June – Bangers at Birmingham Wheels

A further change to the fixture list on 26th June sees the Bangers in another special meeting with an all Rear Wheel Drive meeting. Cars will be built to normal Banger spec and will also be allowed to weld the differential for this one-off meeting. There has been lots of interest in this meeting already, so certainly one to pop in the diary now, even at this early stage. BriSCA F2’s, Grand Prix Midgets and the Rebel Racers are also on the bill that evening.

In car Cameras

A quick reminder to ALL drivers that Incarace and Spedeworth DO NOT allow the use of in-car cameras at any of their tracks. There have been a couple of occasions this last month where drivers have put cameras in their cars and they have been reminded that it is not allowed.

Crash Helmets

Drivers should all be aware of the current rules and requirements for Crash Helmet specifications and that they have changed from last year. You are no longer allowed to use BS6658A spec helmets of SNELL 2000 helmets. Slowly but surely, helmets are now being stickered with the ORC10 official helmet mark that identifies the helmet as being current specification. We are now getting to the stage where we can check helmets on track and please note that any caught with an unmarked helmet will be told to leave the track.

A number of problems seem to be occurring with the E2205 helmet spec where drivers have in good faith purchase a new helmet from a Motorbike shop with the E2205 standard marked on it, BUT, E2205’s can only be used in Fibreglass or Tri-Composite form and NOT in plastic. So, please, if you do attempt to buy one from a non recognised Oval Track Supplier, you must make sure that it is either Fibreglass or Tri-Composite and most importantly, bring with you proof that it is. It is not always easy to identify the make-up of a helmet, and if the scrutineer is in doubt, then he will not pass it and you will not be able to use that helmet on the day of racing.

Dave Gamble from D G Intersport is at most of our meetings and he always carries a good stock of helmets if you are in doubt.

27 March 2010

BANGERS- Rule Clarification

Suspension

Drivers – please be reminded that there is no allowance in the rules to lower your suspension – it must remain standard. If scrutineers do consider that your car has been lowered, then remember that they have the right to refuse you from racing.

Paul Gerrard
RACE DIRECTOR

27 March 2010

RACING AT NON-ORCi TRACKS

If you hold a current ORCi licence, then you are not allowed to race at a non-ORCi track with your car – it does say this in your licence contract. Any driver that is found to be doing this, e.g. racing his Stock Rod or Lightning Rod at say, the Rolling Thunder Show at Arena, will be given a standard ORCi one year ban.

Paul Gerrard
RACE DIRECTOR

22 March 2010

STOP PRESS – CLASSIC HOT ROD RULES

Following discussions with Incarace Managing Director, Deane Wood, a positive decision has been made today, Monday 22nd March in respect of the engine rules for 2 Litre Pinto’s.............

The current rule of 32mm chokes, will now stay for the remainder of 2010 and will not be reviewed after a 3 month period for a possible change back to 36mm or different rules based on the pinto head used.

Saturday evening at Birmingham Wheels was a big disappointment to many with the smallest field of Classics for a long time. It was understood that drivers were concerned about changing to 32mm now and potentially having to change back in 3 months time, both at a cost and some crossflow drivers considered that the 32mm chokes would only be a short term fix, if the rule changed back at the end of June.

I would like to thank the 10 drivers that did attend the race meeting at Wheels on Saturday night – you put on a good show considering the low numbers of cars on track. We now need your fellow drivers to do whatever they need to do to be ready for the next meeting – Easter Bank Holiday Monday at Northampton – that meeting is just less than two weeks away, so get to it, finish your car and lets see a big grid of cars for the second meeting of the season.

Paul Gerrard

RACE DIRECTOR

22 March 2010

BANGERS

Please note the following Rule Clarifications

Fire Extinguishers

It is NOT mandatory to fit a Fire Extinguisher in your race car – the rule is to be clarified in line with all other formulas as follows :

A 1Kg Dry Powder Gauge Fire Extinguisher is highly recommended and if fitted, this should be in a tube with a spring top and should be within easy reach of the driver. Old type BCF (green) type extinguishers are not allowed. All tow vehicles, must carry a minimum of a 2kg fire extinguisher dry powder or gas, which must be within easy reach of the driver and mechanics at all times, especially when refuelling.

Roll Cage Padding

Please note that padding of your roll cage, MUST include the ‘B’ Pillar.

Wheels & Tyres

Under rule 15, whilst all four wheels must be the same diameter, you may use different size tyres.

22 March 2010

ALL FORMULAS - 2010 HELMET RULE

A reminder to all drivers of all formulas that 2010 has brought about the withdrawal of the BB6658 Type A helmet and also the Snell SA2000 Helmet.

There is no running out period and drivers must conform with the current, 2010 Helmet Rule at all times, which is as follows :

Helmets must be of a minimum standard as directed by British Oval Racing Safety Executive (B.O.R.S.E). These are BS6658/85 Type A, BS6658 Type A/FR, FIA8860-2004, Snell SA2000, Snell SA2005, SFI Foundation 31.1A, SFI Foundation 31.2A. The E2205 European standard helmet may be used in Fibreglass or Tri-Composite form only. It is important that the helmet fits the driver correctly.

22 March 2010

ALL FORMULAS - HELMET STICKERS

Please note that the ORCi are introducing a 2010 helmet sticker, which will be applied free of charge at Scrutineering over the next few weeks. It will be mandatory for the sticker to be in place before you race as this makes a very easy visual check that your Crash Helmet complies with current rules when you are on the grid, and also helps the scrutineer at future meetings to identify that your helmet is legal. The scrutineer will still require to check it over for any damage, but will not need to check if it is the correct type if the ORC10 Approved sticker has already been applied.

Please bear with the Scrutineers during the next few weeks and remember, if there is doubt in being able to identify the helmet standard, it is up to you the driver to prove what type of helmet it is.

25 February 2010

Northampton Practice Wednesday 3 March Cancelled

There will be no practice at Northampton on Wednesday 3 March as the track will not be ready.

24 February 2010

To All Banger Drivers.

It has been brought to our attention that some people are confused over the rules and eligability of cars for the 'Bangers' at INCARACE in 2010.

Just to answer these questions:-

1. This year Nissan Bluebirds & Primeras are permitted within the Banger formula but the cars must be standard and 1600cc like the other types of cars used currently. A full list of eligable cars are available in the Rules & Regulations for Bangers on the INCARACE website:- http://www.incarace.co.uk/formulae.html

2. The 3 Lap Rule:- This rule where the first three laps of each race are non-contact is still going to be in effect on ALL INCARACE tracks.

Any driver using deliberate contact within these three laps at the discretion of the Steward Of The Meeting or the Clerk Of The Course shall receive a Black Cross and a possible docking of positions on completion of the race. Repeating offenders may receive the Black Flag, be disqualified from the race and risk a possible load-up from the meeting.

There are certain meetings, however, where the three lap rule may be removed from the meeting for varying reasons i.e. Fig Of 8 Racing. If this is the case at a specific meeting a drivers briefing will be held BEFORE start-time and the instructions / rule changes for the meeting will be outlined then.

Everybody shall be notified of the drivers briefing when they sign-in - all drivers are encouraged to attend. There are times where you may hear the same briefing week in and week out but if you choose not to attend and miss any changes and you are disadvanatged because of it you only have yourself to blame!

Last year we had a period at Birmingham where drivers were saying that this driver had said this had changed etc etc when what they had said was not the case at all.

The drivers briefings shall be held by either Adam Leslie, Paul Gerrard, Mick Reece, John Sarginson or Deane Wood. On the day of the meeting unless the rule changes come from us then they are not official!

All the racing rules and regulations and car construction specifications are now available on the INCARACE website:- http://www.incarace.co.uk/formulae.html

07 February 2010

HEARTBREAKER

Just a quick update to let all drivers and spectators know that the Competitors Gate will open at 10am at Heartbreaker & the Spectators Gates will open at 10.30am.

This is an ideal opportunity to remind all drivers that if you are competing at Heartbreaker on Sunday 14th February the start time is 1.30pm!

We are opening the Competitors Gate at 10am to give you all plenty of time to arrive, park, sign-in, licence if necessary and get scrutineered. The first race will be for the 2ltr National Bangers and will be rolling out onto the track at 1.20pm with the Rolling Lap starting at 1.30pm exactly. The more races you want to be in the earlier you need to be ready so the BIG ASK IS PLEASE ARRIVE ASAP!

Last year many drivers took the advice and come start time we had a full grid of cars and even had to turn some away from the first heat and add an extra heat which is far better than the other way round for everybody.

A reminder also that if you are intending on racing at Heartbreaker if you haven't booked-in already please do so ASAP.

If you are INCARACE registered contact 0121-357-0007 and follow the answer phone messages instructions or by e-mail:- bookin@incarace.co.uk

If you are licensed with any other ORCi promotion please book-in through them as you normally would.

On the subject of licensing:- You MUST have your new 2010 ORCi National Banger Licence to race at Heartbreaker. If you haven't got one there are several options available:-

1. Contact the INCARACE Office on 0121-357-7328 and ask to be sent a Licence Application Form. Fill it in at home and bring it on the day along with two passport photos please.

2. Pay for a Full ORCi National Banger Licence on the day. The cost of the licence is £65 (Cash ONLY!) & please bring two passport size photos with you.

3. Pay for a Temporary Licence on the day, which entitles you to race for 1 meeting ONLY. These cost £20 (Cash ONLY) per driver.

Both options 2 & 3 take time to complete the forms on the day so you need to allow for this as there is always a queue for licensing so again COME EARLY to avoid delays.

Hope to see everybody there bright and early.

Adam Leslie
INCARACE

Have you got the I Factor?

In an attempt to provide the more grass roots and basic of our formulas and visiting formulas more racing on our tracks in 2010, we are announcing a series of events at both Birmingham Wheels and Northampton where we will be running quick fire races, all non contact with five, six and sometimes seven formulas racing on the same night.

It really will be action all of the way for both spectators and fans, with a really quick turnaround on races, no waiting for stragglers in the pits – if a car isn’t ready, then unfortunately it will be shut out. Trophies will be provided for the 1st three in the finals.

There are eight events altogether, including the I Factor Finals night which will be at Birmingham Wheels on Saturday 13th November 2010, with Championship races for all formulas based on the points scored in all of the I Factor Race Events throughout the year.

All people, including the driver will pay to come into each of these meetings, but as has been murmured in the press and on the terraces, these are not Pay to Race events as such, i.e. there will not be a race fee to pay each time you enter.

The I Factor Race Events will start at the earlier than normal time of 6pm. There will be the normal paid Practice available between 2.30pm and 5pm, and then pre-meeting practice from 5.15 to 5.45pm, all ready then for a prompt 6.00pm start.

The I factor Race Dates are as follows :

I Factor Race Night 1 Birmingham 3rd April
I Factor Race Night 2 Birmingham 1st May –
I Factor Race Night 3 Birmingham 5th June –
I Factor Race Night 4 Northampton 10th July –
I Factor Race Night 5 Birmingham 7th August –
I Factor Race Night 6 Northampton 11th September –

NEW POINTS SYSTEM FOR 2010

We are re-organising the way our Points Charts work for 2010.

Firstly we are adopting the points scoring system from Spedeworth which is as follows :

Heats 1st place – 8 points, 2nd place – 7 points......... 8th place – 1 point
Finals score double – 16-14-12-10-8-6-4-2

Points are scored in ALL RACES, irrespective of starting positions, grades etc.

Points run to the final SATURDAY in each month and come into force on the following Saturday, which will be the first Saturday in the month.

Points for any meetings run between the last Saturday in the month and the first Saturday of the following month, will count for the next points chart.

Where grades are applicable, these will be calculated on points scored, with a careful eye being kept on previous history, i.e A superstar cannot drop below blue grade irrespective of points gained.

The Points charts for Stock Rods, Lightning Rods and National Bangers will run from WORLD FINAL to WORLD FINAL, i.e they will be zeroed at the World Final and then start again. All other formulas will run for the calendar year from 1st Jan to 31st December

Grades for the beginning of the 2010 season will be as from the Final Points chart of 2009.

When the first points chart of 2010 is produced (i.e. after the last Saturday of March), Stock Rods, Lightning Rods and National Bangers will have points added for any meetings from 2009 that were run after the respective World Finals.

05 January 2010

LIGHTNING RODS & STOCK RODS – Points Championship – WHAT A PRIIZE!

We are very pleased to announce that The winner of the 2010 National points in Stock Rods and Lightning Rods at both Spedeworth and Incarace leading up to the World Final will qualify for the 2011 South Africa tour and race a 2.0 Hot Rod.

A top competative car will be supplied, accomodation supplied for driver plus one. You will have to find your own flight money and damage money. Damage will be charged at trade price as it is done in house.
